Persuasive Writing for Survivour night

 Hi Mum,

It is Tuesday 29 November 2022. Next week me and my classmates and some adults are going to Waima forest for a survivor night adventure. I think I should go to survivor night 2022 because it would be a great adventure for me. Most of the adults there a first aid trained. They are also very trustworthy. Please give me this opportunity. It's good for me because I'll have lots of fun going swimming, bombing, dancing and roasting marshmallows on the fire, interacting with others, and learning how to live in the wild. It's also good to explore nature and share my thinking with others.

Another reason I think I should go is because we will learn lots of new skills and I will be able to show you the new skills I will learn. The new skills I will be learning are how to build a shelter, bush safety, hut etiquette, bird monitoring, lighting a fire, and cook which will be a good memory for me to remember when I’m older, plus you won't have to cook for me anymore. So please let me take this challenge. It's a privilege. Adventure, exploring, wilderness - will I survive in this forest?

This is why I should go to survivor night 2022. It would be a big achievement for me physically and mentally and I will spend time with my friends. It's a big opportunity. I deserve to go on this trip. This is a good way to reward me for all the work I have done for you. So please let me go.

Kind regards,

India Singh.

Experience Bike Safety

In class, we are learning to look at a model text and then change it into our own information report by being a reporter and putting it in the third person I change a volleyball report into a bike safety report.

It was a beautiful hot sunny day, this was not an ordinary day at Kaikohe Christian School. On Tuesday the 18th of October year 7-8 students took part in a bike safety program with Gwen, Sam, and Shay, who work for bike ready, to educate children about bike safety. At Kaikohe Christian School. They learned ways to check their bike with a system called A B C D E Q.

This day was an opportunity for young students to grow in confidence in riding a bike and to just get out there and enjoy engaging with others. The purpose of this day was to learn about bike safety and a lot of it was based on riding slowly just in case you have to ride safely while doing something else.

The day started out at 11:30. The yr7-8 were split into two groups; group one went first while the other group went inside to do work. Shay started with putting them from tallest to shortest, then the yr7-8 had to put on a helmet. The women told them what the ABCDEQ was so that the yr7-8 could do that check. The women told yr7-8 to do one lap around the park so that they could get a quick glance at what we could do. The women taught yr7-8  how to ride slowly. The yr7-8 did some relays on the bikes where you had to have a tire around your arm and then throw it over a cone. Then we played floor is lava on the bikes which was all about slow riding.

In conclusion, the day finished off with the women asking yr7-8 a little test, so the women knew we were listening. We answered most of them then the women quoted  ''Well done for listening and following instructions we are very happy.'' Then the yr7-8 said thank you for coming to our school.

BLOG Devotions Reflection

We are created in God's image.
This means I have God-given creativity
and talents.
This week we read the parable of the three servants.

What it was about...
It was about three servants. The first servant was given 5 bags of money from God the master the second servant was given 2 bags of money and the last servant was given 1 bag of money. Then the master said I will be back in a few months. When he came back he asked them what they did with their money. The third servant buried the money and gave it back when the master returned. The master was angry with the third servant so he punished him.

Something that it taught me...
It taught me not to be lazy, to let your talents shine, don't be scared if you get mocked, to also follow God's path.

How can I apply it...
To let my talents shine and to help other people to be confident, to show their own talents to tell them to let it shine. For example my talent is Drawing and joking

Doubling and Halving

In class, we learned a new strategy called Doubling and halving

When you do this strategy you have to think about how can you make it easier

5 x 48 = 240

10 x 24 =240

For example:

I doubled the 5 to become 10 then I halved 48 to become 24 and that's how I got my answer.

6 x 3.5 = 21

3 x 7 =21

For example:

I doubled the 3.5 to become 7 then I halved the 6 to become 3 and that's how I got my answer.

My Smart goals

This week we have set goals to work towards. These are the goal I set with my class
