Limerick Poems

 Write a poetry blog post 

In class, I learned about limerick poems. They have usually humorous poems.     

Here is an example poem we look at in class…

The Boy Bart

There once was a boy called Bart

He loved to fart

He had no friends

Because he always defends 

That was the boy Bart

 The Girl Zoe 

I once met a girl named Zoe 

She met a boy named Joey 

They fell in love

And saw a dove

That's the girl Zoe

The Apprentice fairy

I once met an apprentice from Keri

She was training to be a fairy 

But one day she got a fright

She realized she was afraid of heights 

That was the apprentice from Keri.

Using Knowledge

This week I have been learning about oxbow lakes, I have made a presentation with Gianni here it is.

 

The Ngahere

In class, I've been learning to show not tell on my narrative writing so I can make it more interesting. I try to include figurative language and describe what characters think and feel. This is the story that me and Tai changed.

Orientation (Two Brothers) Problem does not get along - one adventurous and the other lazy. 

 

One morning Jeziah got angry with his little brother Justice because of his laziness and taking forever to do everything as he’s always gaming and raiding the pantry. Which his mum and brother do not like because they have to pay for everything and they're not rich. Jeziah likes to mock, giving Justice the nickname “Greedy Guts' '. 

 

They were arguing about where they wanted to go. So Mum suggested that they should just go out and enjoy the Ngahere. Jeziah goes out into the Ngahere. He Tells Justice to come with him but Justice doesn’t want to; all he wants to do is play on the game all day and eat like a pig. The boys obeyed their mother and went into the Ngahere. Jeziah tries to play a prank on Justice but suddenly Jeziah gets lost. Justice is scared, but he tries to find him not knowing what to do. Knew he would get in trouble with his mum if he ended up coming. Home by himself. Creeping and quietly walking through the really damp, dark bush trees swaying with the wind, the wind going through the tree’s making it sound like someone screaming.

Justice calls out to him; he answers with” Yes, I'm here, can you help me I’ve rolled my ankle?” Justice does what he can do to help Jeziah. There is such a thing as brotherly love with finding his older brother and helping him. Finding their way out of the Ngahere has brought the brothers closer together.

Jeziah realizes that his little brother Justice is really helpful after all and admires the fact that he wasn't so lazy but forgiving and brave. They go home peacefully accepting each other's differences. Jeziah feels proud of his brother and realizes how mum must feel when they are continually arguing. 

How healthy are you

 In class, we are learning what it means to be healthy. I learned that well-being is about being well emotionally, physically, and spirtually.

The Girl who got Bullied

 In our class, we are doing a cold task to see what we already know about it. Our cold task is                     based on narrative writing. This is what I did in 30 mins for my narrative writing.

I am also learning to self-assess my writing so I know what I am good at and what I need to work                                                                 on like figurative language.  

                                           I want to improve on metaphor and hyperbole

Once upon a time, there was a girl whose name was Grace. She was 12 years old and wore braces. Other kids would laugh at her because of her braces and she would run to the bathroom crying. She always got bullied by the same children.

 But no one knew she was a pleasant girl because she was so quiet. She was one of the best students in her class because of her quietness and the smartest too. When it was recessed she would always sit in the same spot under a tree she would always draw which she was very good at. Other girls would come over and make fun of her drawings and tip her stuff on the ground then she would have to pick it up. 

Then there was this boy who would help her pick her stuff up and look at her drawings and say those are very good and she would say thank you, he wore glasses he was a nerd his name was Jacob he liked Grace very much as a friend. But grace didn't like him because he was a nerd and she would think that everyone would laugh at her because she was hanging out with a nerd. No one liked Jacob because he was a nerd.     They would make fun of him and call him a nerd brain.

When the rang for recces all children went to their class they were doing their work 1 hour and a half later…

The bell rang for home time Grace walked out and one of her books fell out of her hand there was a girl behind Grace and she was looking in Grace's art book and laughed loud “Ahhhhh” and Grace turned around and punched her in the nose and it bled and then Grace grabbed her books and walked home.
